Cyclical Wilderness is a conworld by Katie And, also known as jan Keti or The & System. It's part of a greater, nameless conworld, in which the game Treize occurs.

Cyclical Wilderness is the name given to Whitespace Laboratories, which after being abandoned for several reasons, became overgrown with plants, animals and insects. The Subjects are the most advanced species in this world, being able to form communities and use weapons left behind by the humans who used to work on it. Besides the many living beings, it's also home of the General Management Assistant, an AI originally designed to help mantain the laboratory, and now rendered useless.

It's also the place where The Amalgam is found.

Places

Entrance

The entrance is where the main access door is located at. Close to it, The Blender, the place where subjects were disposed of, can be found. It's inhabited and creatures only go to this area when hunting or being hunted, otherwise they remain as far from it as possible.

Low Temperature Lab

The low temperature lab is, as the name implies, the coldest part of Whitespace. Although originally no creature in the lab was adapted to survive in primarily cold areas, they eventually made their way in and adapted to the low temperature. Most creatures from this place, exceptuating Pipe Rats would die in other places due to their own body temperature

General Research

Where most of the life in Cyclical Wilderness is found, and home to most cultures of Subjects. This area is temperate and sprawling with fauna and flora, making it an extremely hostile place. Although an ecosystem like this might seem extremely delicate, the creatures in this area have evolved to make sure it's hard to unbalance it. For example, most animals are able to scavenge as a last resort, making it possible for them to eat their own dead bodies in case it hasn't been eaten.

The Floods

Originally a recreative area for researchers to rest with a maximum of 10 hours per week allowed, this place's pipery has broken, leading to the rest of the area to flood up to a certain point. There's only a few ways for a normal land creature to remain here, such as the small air holes that are dispersed throughout the area. Titans can be found in the deeper parts of this place, although they're rarer.

The Waste Deposit

It used to be a separate area, but the water pressure from the floods broke the walls that kept it from getting to other places and now the water is mixed with the waste. It's the home of an underwater species that's able to create tools from the deposits in it.

General Management Assistant

It's the room where GMA can be found. Although it would normally be destroyed by the water, GMA has made sure it doesn't get to his body or his internal systems. Above this room, his neural network can be found; a network of several supercomputers running neural networks for individual tasks. A few species have made home in this place, but GMA has altered them so that they wouldn't cause him any harm.

Substance

It's in this room where the experiments that lead to the discovery of Substance and, following it, the introduction of The Loop occured. Gravity in this area is lower than in the rest of the laboratory, slowly approaching zero gravity as one gets closer to the center.

The Loop

Every living being in Cyclical Wilderness is trapped in a loop in which death is only a temporal issue, and only hunger, sleep and thirst are permanent. Once something dies, it will reappear somewhere else, and the memories of the previous loop are partially erased.

The loop was artificially introduced by the presence of Substance in the lab due to Ynn's experiments. Once the loop was introduced, everything that was in the lab at the moment of its creation was permanently trapped in it. Nothing that's in it can trigger the exit from the laboratory, and the walls that connect with the exterior self-repair, making it impossible to get out for anything from the inside.

The flora and fauna that was in the lab at the moment the loop was introduced was severely adapted by substance, making their body and behaviour change, adapting it to the new way in which life and everything else works.

The fauna and flora from Cyclical Wilderness is very varied, due to the many ways in which plants and animals could adapt to the introduction of substance in the environment. This page contains a list of fauna and flora listed by how the subjects interact with it.

Clarifications on flora

The plants of Cyclical Wilderness adapted to a much more hostile environment, because of this, a lot of plants became carnivore and very animate, making them close to animals. However, since most of their structure is the same, they're classified as animate plants, and therefore as flora.
